When God calls us to the next thing, it is not always what we want to do. But He has already prepared our hearts for it; while some matters feel too difficult at the time, God would not call us somewhere without being there Himself.
Yes, we need to do our part… step out in faith, be obedient, whatever the cost. But God will not leave us there alone, and He will continue calling us on.
There is joy in obedience. He is offering us more. More of Himself, more of His abundant life. Every difficult thing God has asked me to do has resulted in a deeper relationship with Him, a deeper understanding of who He is as sovereign, as mighty, as kind. (The list goes on…)
Obeying God simplifies my life. I do not need to rush around trying to put every piece in place myself. I can walk in the way that He has asked and have faith. Yes, I need to be wise. Yes, there are every day things to do. But yes, His will be done.
If we are faithful to what He has called us to, we don’t need to worry about the outcome. He holds everything in his hands; to what avail is trying to pick everything up myself? He wants me to lay it down and trust Him. Trust Him with every situation, trust Him with every person.
God is our refuge, our dwelling place, our fortress. We are safe beneath His wings. The descriptions of God show how trustworthy He is, how stable and protective. If I believe His word, then I have no reason to fear, and every reason to trust.
I know I said it in my last post, but I’m excited for this autumn and winter. I’m excited to see what God does, and how I grow to see Him more. Whatever this season brings, I pray to trust and obey and walk in the way of the Lord. There is nothing better.
