Hello, my dear reader!
Welcome to my latest venture, a new project.
I have a big, happy mug of tea next to me, which is usually how I begin to write. It’s also how I start my day. Maybe you’re wondering why I’ve created a newsletter as well as writing a blog. Well, my blog has turned into something I never envisioned, and I love that. It has become a space of creative writing, book reviews, and other fleshed out thoughts.
But I like the idea of this newsletter being a chattier space. A place where we can continue the conversation if you respond to this email, which I welcome.
Recently on my blog I posted the catalyst for this newsletter. That is, not feeling at home on Instagram, where I know a lot of people have made a platform for their writing. I discuss my thoughts surrounding social media and technology in this post, so you can read that if you’re interested in the lead up to this creative project. (I’ll be linking blog posts in this newsletter rather than repeating myself, as I want the two platforms to offer something different from each other.)
I mentioned these feelings to one of my sisters, and she asked what I thought about a monthly newsletter instead of using social media. A newsletter allows me to do what I love, which is writing, while Instagram is designed for photos and bite-sized content. As soon as we started bouncing ideas off each other I felt excited, motivated, and creative, and I haven’t felt those things in a while.
More importantly, those feelings haven’t left.
I’m hoping to share more of my everyday life in this newsletter; new things I’m exploring (like baking bread), writing updates, other content I consume (books, recipes, music), and glimpses into the simple yet beautiful things I find along the way. I’m excited about the endless possibilities, the ideas this newsletter can include that I haven’t thought of yet. I can’t wait to journey through this with you.
At this stage I post on my blog once a week, generally a Wednesday, while this newsletter will be a monthly letter sent straight to your inbox.
With this being said, thank you for signing up and supporting me as I start my newsletter! Already I’ve been amazed at how it has been received. I appreciate you so much and can’t wait to connect further over the following months.
I’m hoping this project will encourage you or bring you joy in some way. If it doesn’t, feel free to unsubscribe! I know how overwhelming emails and social media can be and I don’t want to add to the stress.
So, the adventure begins.
