As I’ve been reading a bit less, I thought it would be easier to compile the last couple of months of completed books into one post. In the past week I have found myself gravitating more towards reading, which has been a joy.
Rooms of Their Own by Alex Johnson
This was a larger book that explores a multitude of famous writers and the space in which they wrote. The glimpse into their world is so fascinating; I love seeing other people’s spaces. Whether they kept things tidy or messy, if they preferred to see sentimental items or stark rooms. Some writers have the luxury of a secluded cabin, others wrote in their bedrooms. An inspiring, fun book to read through. 4 stars.
Workship by Kara Martin
A Christian book that goes through what Christianity looks like in the workplace, particularly in secular industries. I appreciated this book because it explains different ways we can bring God into our place of work, which is so important when you consider how many hours we spend there and who we interact with. 4 stars.
The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton
A classic! At last. I really enjoyed this one. There was so much truth in how the characters interacted with one another. This story spans the life of a man as he gets married whilst connecting more with his wife’s cousin, a woman fleeing from a bad marriage. The ending was particularly poignant, and I appreciated how the story explored this gentleman battling what is proper and what he wanted and realising not everything we want needs to be actualised. 4 stars.
Normally I would say I am off to cook some soup, but I am moving into salad mode! Which means less cooking for me but also the fear the lettuce will turn disgusting before the week is over.
