Sunrise / Poem

Sunrise (written by Sarah Bennett)

the day was golden / if a bit insecure / the sky was hopeful of the dawn to follow / when no light was left / the rain bled through the cracks in the stars / we thirsted no more / our dreams became the new day / expectant / the sun rose upon the grass / the grass that held drops of water in open palm / flowers met the early morning chill / knowing of the warmth to come / and we waited
